Disability Bowls

Caboolture Lakes and Beachmere bowls club disability Bowls.

thanks must go to Geoff Sanderson and wife Ann for their effort recently for setting up a table at the disability expo earlier this month held at Morayfield.

As our clubs are trying to establish a safe and inclusive environment for people with disabilities to come along and learn to play lawn bowls for enjoyment and social activities for both mind and body. Geoff has been the driving force behind trying to establish within our clubs a program GR8 for brains this program is aimed at people for all walks of life including members of the armed forces, police and emergency services some of the people suffer from PTSD as well as other types of disorders.

the program is designed to help with self-development of the mind and body with sport and social contact. The aim is to have them come and play Lawn Bowls within our clubs. the program is backed by Bowls Australia with help from other organisations.

Another project that is ongoing Geoff and club members are trying to establish a place for disabled bowlers and people with physical disabilities to come along and learn the game of lawn bowls. with the help of Alan Thorp who is the Moreton district president as well as being the coach of the Qld disabled bowls teams. Alan also is one of the coaching staff for Bowls Qld that travels the state running coaching courses.
